First Look: Julie Golob Reviews the 4" SA-35

I think SA hit a major home run with the design of their manual safety. Its far better than the original and even better than the C&S which I have in one of my guns. Unfortunately they won't sell it to regular customers. They consider it a safety item that must be fitted by a competent...

    The Byrna "Banana"

30 seconds to a minute for the powder to take effect? More than enough time to get killed. Again a big NOPE! 🤬

    S&w victory confusion

If the serial number on that hang tag is correct, 581087, that gun falls into a very large block listed in the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson ending in 1942 with serial number 700000. Best guess would put this gun as being from the late 1930s. Therefore it would be chambered in 38 Special...

    The Byrna "Banana"

I've never seen the commercials. After looking at the website, I do remember seeing these before. NOPE! 🤬 It looks like a gun and will likely get you shot.

    S&w victory confusion

A different time and people had different views and values. Back in the day, customizing cheap mil-surps was a popular thing. Look at all the mil-surp rifles that got sporterized.

    S&w victory confusion

I may be mistaken but, I believe those are a set of Rogers grips from the 60s-70s and are made of Bakelite. These were quite popular with LEOs back then.

    S&w victory confusion

If the serial number starts with a "V", its a victory model. Otherwise its an old Military and Police Model of 1905. In that case the nickel finish may be original. Check the sides of the grip frame and underside of the barrel for a "N" marking indicating a factory nickel finish. Its definitely...

    The Red Bull P-38 Lightning

I read a story some years back that said that the P-38s great advantage was the placement of its guns. In conventional fighters of the time, the guns were out on the wings. Pilots of the time had to learn to judge distance and angles to hit enemy planes. The P-38s guns were directly in front of...

    great news!!!!!

There's a story in Memphis right now about a man who shot his girlfriend's dog and threw the body in a ditch. Looks like they're gonna throw the book at him. Probably gonna do some time, but I don't know how much a person can get for this. Info is coming out that he was also physically abusive...

    Parking lots?

I have problems walking long distances these days and have a handicapped placard. But finding a handicapped parking spot is a challenge in itself. Sometimes I have no choice but to walk a ways. 🤬 One of the things that really pisses me off is all the places that have no guns signs. Once you're...

Things That May Make You Go hmmmmm…

Never underestimate greed. Its long been rumored that a cure for cancer was found years ago. The drug companies have suppressed it because there's more money in treating it than curing it. True or not? IDK?

    Seven vs Eight-Why it matters!

I've been shooting and carrying 1911s for a lot of years. All I use for carry or competition is the Wilson 8 rounders. I have a bunch of Ed brown and a few other 8 rounders for range use. I've never had a problem with any of them.

    My early morning visitors

Glad you came through it with a good outcome. I just wouldn't have opened the door and called 911. You should check yard sales and thrift stores for some of those half, quarter sized souvenir bats that some teams used to give away. I have several of them. Perfect size for a good one handed...

    Gun Porn/Collection & Retirement

I've been retired 11 years now. Generally hit the range about once a month. More if I've got a project going. I've been accumulating guns for most of my life starting at about 12 years old. I have a good sized collection. In retirement, I find I shoot a lot of .22LR. Its cheap, fun and easy on...

Was it a Sig, or just an idjit?

Many people make the mistaken assumption that Federal Officers are the best there is. The truth is that Federal LE agencies are plumb full of morons and idiots. Nothing stupid they do surprises me at all.

The True Story Behind the Mattel M16 Rifle

When I was in the Army (1972-75) we were issued the M-16A1. I never saw one marked Mattel, but it was long rumored that they made the plastic parts. I do know that many were made by General Motors as I carried a couple of them. Frankly, guns made by a toy company and a car company didn't...
