I am glad it worked out for the Fad, anytime bad guys get theirs. My point was self defense matters can go south on Bad perceptions or bad camera oltics. Line otherwise justified shootings but the social media stuff comes out.
As far as my criticism of tough talkers I have heard a lot of bold...
If you are familiar with the California courts her attorney won a couple times and the criminal side. The problem they (family) got the civil case reversed after it was dropped on the civil side.
As far as the whole judged by 12 comment. My experience (and I base this as someone that’s been...
I have been in scene at a few shootjng, I have also been involved in some form of LE for 40 years to include training. Bear with me as this all rolls over to normal earth people when they use force
We are (or should be) long gone from the bad SOP of “shoot til the threat goes away”
I am also...
Respectfully to some that are
Tough talkers. I bet the tone changes when the gavel comes down. Ask LAPD Officer Toni McBride she shot a suspect with a knife 6 times. The review bird said she was good with the first four but the last 2 that she was not. This she has been fighting the case off and...
Respectfully, (and I am not saying you mean to) the problem is with words. The media throws around terms like Solitary and paint everything with that broad brush (like Assualt rifles) and peolme want that have no basic understanding other than what a news article calls it and it sticks make...
There is no such thjng as Solitary confinement Single cell yes Solitary no. The last inmate in Solitary confinement within the Federal Bureau of Prisons was Thomas Silverstein Silverstein at USP Leavenworth until they moved him to ADX Florence in 2005 whem Leavenworth was downgraded to a medium...
As someone that did 20 years inside a high security federal penitentiary (working that is) and as a LT the inmate is full of BS and the judge just as much.
BOP policy
If an inmate became disruptive or tried to self mutilate themselves the Operations LT could put them in 4 point restraints or...
O would say the FBI/Miami and the Bank of America shootout (BOA LAPD did employee skne K38’s trying head shots from theor PPC team) is an exception to everyday police shootings in the wheelgun days!
https://www.latimes.com/news/la-me-1997bank_robbery-pg-photogallery.html
On a somewhat related note this reminds me (although I never forgot as I do a lot with Wheelguns to this day)
I was exposed to Wheelguns in the AF yjen as a municipal LEO in 1990 and it was “normal” to have speedloaders on your belt in your bag and even in the pockets of ykur patrol car.
So...
Something that Clint Smith said one time is spot on (like most of what he says)
Guns are suppose to be “Comforting” not “Comfortable”
Of course this was before the mindset and em and for minute 15-17 shot 9mm and 380’s took off.
I still hold Clint’s view as practice as the smallest guns I...
Today marks the 80th anniversary of the start of the battle of Alcatraz. While current crime trends get a lot of attention of being “violent” the majority of staff killed in the Federal Bureau of Prisons happened the first half of the 20th century. Places like USP Leavenworth, USP Atlanta and...
I wish the 38 Super was more popular as it’s a great round. Just seems that the 124gr 9mm at 1,200 fps is hard to beat in both 1911’s and any number of double stack guns these days.
38 Super is still a great round though
The bigger cost on a death row inmate isn’t housing or feeding but the increased legal scrutiny and appeals and most don’t get to do it by Zoom which incurs manning to go to and from court.
In the Federal system it usually means travel back to whichever US Court district and BOP and US...
I get that however when there is a fence between can be hard to articulate it. Also if your 110% justified then shoot the dog if you must.
However (if feasible) With OC it does far better results with little to no consequences for the person criminally or civilly. Especially through a fence...
Respectfully, OC is a better option than shooting warning shots. Living in the country or not warning shots are often considered lethal force in most states and criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon (or similar wording) in most
I started in the revolver days and if we didn’t get it done in 6 we were dead or seriously injured.
We had a 4” wheelgun and a snub as a backup and maybe a shotgun woth 4 rounds of #4 and the only less lethal was a baton and Sap!
They were great days though
While some have shot 40 in 10mm hih shouldn’t do it. Several of us use to drive with no seat belts and hunt from tree stands with no safety harness with no issues but doesn’t mean we should!
For those that mention not carrying an expensive gun for fear of being sieges in an investigation. My bigger worry (just in my situation) is I ravel a lot by airlines and I am more concerned with baggage issues of being lost or stolen. So for that reason I usually carry something that I can...
