Ayoob: 1911 — Outdated Hype and Nostalgia?

well, this was quite the promotion piece... but hey, I'm not complaining. I'm glad to read anything about 45s. I love mine. I know they have come a long way in 9mm ammunition design, but I still feel the .45 is superior it's ability to stop an attacker. I am a big proponent of hitting what I aim...

Vietnam’s Forgotten Gunship: The ACH-47A Chinook

First I have read about the Chinook being used this way. I have read about the C-130 and C-47 gunship conversions which were used to great affect. I believe the C-130 gunships are still in the US arsenal today, although drones and advancements in portable carried AA rockets have limited their...

Hitler’s Zipper: The MG 42 Machine Gun

Yes, aptly named "Hitler's buzzsaw". I had the pleasure of watching one of these in action at the range when the machine gun club was having there annual shoot. Unique sound, accurate, and a shocking realization that you do not want to be down range of one of these.

Wow, that is really cool. Where have I been? It never occurred to me that I could have built a cannon. But I can tell you back in the 60s I had fun with a carbide cannon consisting of two three lb coffee cans.

My Three Decade Journey with an M1A

I have owned two of these through the years. Fun to shoot and a great history. I had trouble getting either of mine to group acceptably. Not sure why. German Sturmpistole — An Assault Pistol for Anti-Tank Work?

"a bit of a curiosity"... describes this perfectly. I could imagine the feeling a trooper would have when his CO handed him one of these and told him to "stop any armor coming down the road". Like taking a Red Ryder BB gun into combat.

    9mm vs. 40 — Is the .40 Caliber a Better Handgun Cartridge?

This is in the FBI study. It noted that the 9mm failed to produce the need rate of blood loss to render a man unconscious due to the elasticity of the skin reducing the wound channel. This is why the went to a larger caliber... i.e., skin elastic limitations can not close larger wound channels.
