Can you get past an actors politics

If they hold a belief opposing mine and keep it private, I don’t care. Ideally, I shouldn’t know what they think about hot topics. If they want to preach to me about it, I don’t want to hear it. With some exceptions, that also includes if we are on the same side. That’s not why I bought a...

    Anyone carry TWO?

What’s the worst that can happen if you lose any of these things? But even at that, I do know people who have a spare car key tucked away somewhere. A lot of people wear a watch in addition to having a clock on their phone. I’ve known lots of people who keep two knives on them. And when...

    Anyone carry TWO?

Why did i post that? This may get long. Those who do carry a second/third/whatever can come up with plenty of reasons to rationalize it. I'm one who carries a spare, and I can probably come up with 50-60 reasons why. And four or five of those actually make some sense! But those who don't...

What are you doing right now??

Getting face licks from my dog. I just got home from giving an annual Range Safety Orientation at the conservation club. Trying to keep us open another year.

    Any Double Rifle enthusiasts here?

And one big advantage I see to them, that no other type offers, is you can have two independent actions and barrels. Designs vary, so its not completely true with some that share mechanical components, but with others its the case. One can fail completely, and you still have a rifle.

    Any Double Rifle enthusiasts here?

I would love to be a double rifle enthusiast, but don’t have the income. They are very interesting though, that’s for sure. For someone of the means, they would be a collecting and shooting world all their own.

    Anyone carry TWO?

I have a… I don’t know… call it a thought exercise for everyone. As you go about your day tomorrow, at random times, ask yourself “If I needed my carry gun right this second, how easily can I get it?” Do this from the time you get up until you go back to bed. All day long. Think about this...

    Top .380 Self-Defense Rounds?

If I were to carry a .380, penetration would be my concern. I’d load either Buffalo Bore 100 cast, Underwood 100 cast, or the old Remington 102 Golden Saber.

NEW: SMITH & WESSON NEW MODEL 940-3 9MM J-FRAME SNUB

I know it makes most wonder why, but I have a Ruger LCR in 9mm. So why? Convenience. So I have no excuse not to get some snubby practice whenever I’m at the range. I always have 9mm ammo around. There is some in the back of the SUV somewhere, no matter what I’m shooting. There is no...

    What are we reading?

For some reason, even though I’ve seen it several times before, when I saw this thread title just now I thought it asked what I’m reloading. I’m reading: I

    Anyone carry TWO?

I started a reply and kept thinking I had just done this. But that’s how it is with this topic. It’s being discussed on some forum right now, and if things go as usual, a good percentage are shocked or amused by the idea. I don’t get that. I know people who carry constantly, wouldn’t leave...

    Anyone carry TWO?

Didn’t we just discuss this? Some guy named Pieter Coetzee brought it up. https://www.thearmorylife.com/forum/threads/is-two-guns-too-much.25274/

    Semmerling LM-4 Pistol 45 ACP

I've wanted one of those for a while. I doubt I'd be willing to pay the price if I found one, though.

    RIP Robert Duvall

I dreaded this day. He was one of my favorite living actors, and truthfully maybe the only one. He was good in everything, including (most impressively) some otherwise poor movies.

M1 Garand vs. M1941 Johnson Rifle Debate

I’ve looked at it and thought the same thing, but maybe in a different way. The Johnson rifle is very MODULAR rifle. The magazine for example, can be swapped out easily. Pull two pins and you can take it off and replace it with a box magazine well. Change to the 7.61x51? Press a bullet...

Trust me, I’ve heard every Johnson joke. Told most of them myself.

M1 Garand vs. M1941 Johnson Rifle Debate

I’ve never seen that figure. If correct, it must have come from the Johnson’s prototype costs. Production costs should’ve been less than the Garand. Melvin Johnson went around to various manufacturers to see what they could build, should it enter wartime production. A lot of it could’ve...

M1 Garand vs. M1941 Johnson Rifle Debate

The feed lips, if that’s what they can be called here, are part of the receiver. The magazine pushed the rounds up against the bottom of the receiver, who opening is shaped more or less like feed lips. The Johnson Automatic Rifle was the same way. The side-feed magazine was single-stack...

M1 Garand vs. M1941 Johnson Rifle Debate

The AR-10 bolt was indeed Johnson-based. ArmaLite hired Melvin Johnson in an advisory role when they were working in the AR-10. I do wonder if that was some sort of legal trick to get around using the design.
