2026 24 Heures of Le Mans

I love Le Mans and often stay up and watch the entire thing. I hate it that Porsche isn’t in Hypercar, but glad Cadillac is. And look who got the pole! At least for now.

Savage Model 99—The Jeep of the Gun World

When I think of Savage 99s, I always make the comparison of the Savage 1895 and the Winchester 1895. For those who don’t know, the biggest structural difference between the Savage 95 and 99 is the bolt rear and matching receiver contour. The 95’s is squared while the 99 gets a subtle rounding...

    Put a Cap on it.

Revolvers are the most fun to me. I only have a Ruger Old Army in stainless right now, but I feel it’s a good one to have if you have just one. One I’ve always wanted, I think I see in your group. That’s an 1862 Pocket Police. Those have always been one of the cutest/prettiest to me.

    Put a Cap on it.

I’m an instructor with 4-H Shooting Sports. Of the several disciplines we do, Rifle, Pistol, and Muzzleloader shoot together at the same time and location in our county. So while I’m mainly the club’s Rifle and Pistol guy, I am there with the old-timey guns. I am happy to report that today’s...

    I'VE READ IT BEFORE

I’ll agree there! Before I lived in south Louisiana, I didn’t like spicy food at all. I had to learn to like it or I might’ve starved, but I’m glad I did. It’s the saving grace of my otherwise bad experience working there. A few years ago, we took a family trip from Indiana to Texas. When we...

Gun Games are not STREET training

Something I just noticed in reading Lone Gunman’s excellent reply: The OP states there are no walk-throughs in a gunfight, yet promotes Simunitions training. In Simunitions training, there is at the least a briefing before a scenario. Neither that or “gun games” simply turns you loose to start...

What’s In Your Pocket? Keep Your EDC Realistic

I carry way too much in my pockets. I wear carpenter jeans for the extra pockets, in fact. They weigh a ton with all my pocket junk. I suppose it’s a carryover from my previous life as an airplane mechanic and getting used to having tools and hardware filling my pockets all the time. So yes...

    I'VE READ IT BEFORE

I love Cajun jokes, having lived among ‘em a little while.

What is Wrong with 5.56 AKs?

A friend had a 5.56 AK of some variety and it was awful. It had some goofy magwell for AR mags that was a mess. The magazines fit so tight it sometimes took two of us to get them out. Malfunctions no matter what was used. I know I shouldn’t, but I think of that one when I see any 5.56 AK...

    I Love REVOLVERS

I spent the winter carrying a S&W 21-4 .44 Spl as my primary, and it felt good.

    Unsung Heroes: U.S. Navy Corpsmen

Every time I see the word “Corpsman” my loathing for a certain former president grows a little more.

Gun Games are not STREET training

Fine, I’ll jump in. I will agree with the statement that Simunitions training is great. However… I’m pretty much a training junkie. I will take any class I can get to and afford. Having said that, my last Simunitions class was at least eight years ago. It was also my only Simunitions...

So Here’s An Article That Claims FEAR Drives Gun Buying

I suppose there is some truth to the basic premise. I buy some guns out of fear. For starters: Fear of bad people. Fear of the government. Fear of going hungry. Fear of missing out on a nice old gun. Fear of not having something to leave my kids. Most importantly, fear of being outshot by my...

What are you doing right now??

Always a flood of people wanting to eliminate Monaco from the schedule due to it being a parade with no passing. I say if they are only watching the race, they are missing out on something special. All three practice sessions plus qualifying are the most exciting of the year. That’s 4/5s of...

    Thoughts on 25 acp???

Being small caliber doesn’t make it the smallest priced. A quick look at Gunbroker auctions ending within the next few hours shows that a 9mm pistol can be had for the price of a .25 pistol. Even Jeff Cooper will tell you to get the 9mm.

    Thoughts on 25 acp???

So now the cost of a .25 gun relative to others has come into it? I guess I missed that new twist. But that’s how it goes with the few supporters of such guns. The “ifs” keep appearing. It’s great! If you can’t carry anything else… And if you compare it to a .22… And if you can’t afford...

    Thoughts on 25 acp???

When someone disparages Jeff Cooper, I’m gonna have to say something. The .25 ACP sucks for defensive use. Comparing it to the .22 Rimfire only proves the point. The standard arguments for it say the same thing. Well, it beats not having a gun, is better than a sharp stick, etc. Here...
