I just read a December, 2024 article: "Merkava - the Israeli Home Grown Tank" and found out the "trophy system" was developed in Israel and first installed on the Merkava IV tank in 2009.

I'm an engineer and as I was reading the article, I wondered to myself whether or not, with today's technology, if a system to intercept incoming could be utilized on a tank. Then I got to Armor and Survivability and the "trophy system". Question answered!

I'm now 82 and have had guns since I was 16. I had revolvers but hadn't any semi-auto's until last five years (Hellcat, Mil-Spec). Initially I knew nothing of the internals of these weapons, but as a mechanical engineer I did know intuitively not a good idea to "slam dunk" the slide.
