I Live In Another America, and it's Good.

I've got big time respect for truckers. That job can pay well, but it takes some hard bark to do it. Like you said, Winter driving over the passes in the West is nuts. Chaining up, then removing them in that miserable weather...no danka.

You wouldn't like it here. There are lions and bears! No tigers though.

I Live In Another America, and it's Good.

I'm so happy I moved here two years ago. The difference is all around me. Something as simple as listening to our one radio station (AM) in my truck today is a huge indicator. They play the National Anthem at noon each day. Most music is from the 40's to the 80's and largely country, but some...

What are you doing right now??

Love it! No funny car racing anywhere near me, so I've been looking for a bit of nitro-methane with an atomizer. I was going to write "drag racing." but verbiage can be so easily misconstrued these days.

What are you doing right now??

What are you doing right now??

Every time my wife goes shopping, she brings Roxy some kind of treat or toy, and Roxy expects it now. Funny watching her sniff the plastic bags while my wife carries them in.

What are you doing right now??

My dad owned a landscaping business before he became a deputy in '67. He'd always use a heavy roller to pack the seed into the soil, then spread the moss. Turned out a perfect lawn every time.

What are you doing right now??

I have always spread peat moss over the seed. It keeps the moisture in longer and protects the seed from birds, wind, etc. Turns out great! And yes, for sure keep it damp.

What are you doing right now??

Buy a pressure washer, leave it in the open, stand watch and go chootin when the time is right. Never mind, I guess we can't do that, can we?

    Today is National EOD Day

On our way to Iran from Pearl Harbor during the hostage crisis, our ship and others in the fleet practiced some Naval gunfire, the target being the island of Kahoolawe in the Hawaiian Islands. EOD had a full time job there. Kahoolawe was used for target practice from 1941 to 1990, when we gave...

What are you doing right now??

My Sister-in-law had a three-legged cat she called "Tripod." I'd call this one "List."

What are you doing right now??

Roxy just brought home a dead, full-sized Yellow Bellied Marmot. And boy, did it stink! Took it away from her, and she was licking her chops like she'd just had a nice juicy steak.
