Do You Get Your Gun Back Or Not?

While it may cost you a few bucks, have an attorney make up an order for return of the gun to be signed by the trial Judge. Also if your gun is taken by police insist on a property receipt that includes serial number make, model, and caliber as well as the case number and the officer that...

    Discussion: Backfire Turret Tags

I like to mark a couple zero marks, generally 100, 200, and 250 will cover it for my 220 Swift. In tight spots I set it for 100, for an open canyon I set it for 200, and for the open prairie I set it for 250. I don't use the turret for exact drop. I don't take the time to range a Coyote or...

    Holster Recommendation

I use a Hunter brand soft touch iwb fo my Ronin lightweight. Pros very comfortable, metal clip, can be worn in most any position, conceals easily under shirt tail. Cons it's not a range use holster, once drawn you're not going to easily reholster without removing the holster. I've been using...

Food for Thought - Annual Stolen Guns by State

I agree one is too many and any number is tragic. The point I'm trying to make is that some groups use vague numbers and ambiguous statistics to prove their point of view. "Just look how many" is an example of that rhetoric. It allows people to fallback on their own beliefs factual or imagined.

Food for Thought - Annual Stolen Guns by State

Just how many toddlers are killed or injured playing with a loaded gun left where they could access it? I could not find a number.

Food for Thought - Annual Stolen Guns by State

This report was neatly arranged to produce an unambiguous result so it is easily consumed in the manner they intend. They want to insinuate that the theft of a gun involves some irresponsibility on the gun owner. The reality is that that NIBRS (national incident based reporting system) is...

Discussion: What Are Your Training Scars?

We were not allowed speed loaders because you could not do a partial load with them. The capt in charge of firearms made the policy. We also carried 38 special ammo that the same capt loaded in his garage.

Discussion: What Are Your Training Scars?

Now back to the original article concerning the troopers having spent cartridges in their pockets. Those stories were enough to effect our firearms training. Breaking in back in 1979 training and qualifying with a revolver we trained using our cartridge dumps or loops for our first 18 rounds of...

Discussion: What Are Your Training Scars?

When you train "muscle memory" you must be mindful of unintended results. I was a Taser instructor and one of the first to train weak side carry and weak hand deployment. I also trained before shift spark testing to verify readiness, not complete cycle but just a few crackles and turn it off...
