Discussion: Modern Take on the Self-Defense 1911 Pistol

I started carrying a 1911 in the 50s prior to that I carried 45 lc revolver which I still have. My favorite wheel gun is still the 41mag. I have 2 pistols that are 9mm but they rest in a box that says "trading material" in hopes of finding another 45 or 41. I still believe that you should find...

Discussion: Modern Take on the Self-Defense 1911 Pistol

Well as a old disabled LEO I can't afford a new or even used firearm. The meds that they told my take cost more than a new or used firearm and I told the Doc I can't even pay attention let alone a script. So I will just be very happy with my old beat up officer and commander which hits right...

Discussion: Ayoob: Why the "Plain Jane" 1911 is Right for Me

I have 2 1911s both show there age with scratches and some blueing missing here and there. I have aggressive grips so I know they are gripping my hand. I use 200 grain ammo which has done the job since the 50s. One is a Commander and the other is a officers model. I had a full size that I gave...

Discussion: Handguns for Bear Defense: Will Any of Them Stop the Threat?

Yep at my old age I can still get my old Long Colt to bark three times before the target reaches me.IMO what you are comfortable with and accurate with that's the choice you should make. Different strokes for different folks, could be that's why there are so many choices.
