    Dot vs Circle Dot

Circle dot on my Glock 23, my GLock 19, my AR, my 300 BLK, and a simple dot on my 1911....depends on the gun, what you need it for...I think 10mmLife nailed it, for me the circle-dot makes target acquisition much faster, specially while moving... But think about it, most pistol circle-dots, the...

    What about corrective lenses?

So I purchased my first red-dot pistol sight because I was having issues resolving the front/rear sight plains. Turns out I was developing cataracts in both eyes. But the red-dot (actually a circle-dot) made the world of difference for me. Even after the corrective surgery, I still love my...

Questions for those who’ve used both a Red Dot and a Holographic sight on same weapon

For me it was the difference in price with Red/Green Dot $ to $$$, while holographic sights $$$$+. Holographic sights use laser to project image, supposedly better for long range precision. Red/Green Dots use LEDs to do the same... Comes down to price/preference...I have 5 to 6 red/green dots, 1...

    Large Gun Safe Input Needed

I chose Secureit, you assemble it (interlocking steel frame and shell) and I could get it upstairs without a moving company.

red dot options whether in green or red

I use the Holosun circle/dot as well on both pistols (32 MOA Circle) and ARs (65 MOA Circle but use the dot mostly), use an Eotech on one of the ARs, love the circle dot for fast ranging, use the dot for aiming.. I find in training with shooting while moving the circle is far easier to sight...

    Ratcheting gun belt?

Have a Kore belt. Love the adjustable side based on what I am carrying. Between my Glocks and my 1911, lets me tighten based on load. OK, also, truth betold, those of us with how shall I say it kindly, varying girths , the ratchet means it always fits (yes, trimmed mine a little long on purpose).

    GLOCK’s New OEM 15-Round Magazines Big News for G43X, G48 & G44 Owners

Both my wife's 43X and my 48 have been modified to use the Shield S15 mags. Generally we use the S15s for range and training. The 43X seemed a little "sensitive" with the shield mags and has demonstrated FFDs with enough frequency that she carries the Glock 10rd OEM in her CCW. So I like to try...

    Springfield Echelon 4.0C Viridian RFX11

I've had good luck with my Viridian RFX11 as well (Ronin 5" .45 AOS), had to adjust and zero but had no issues adjusting, and I've put at least 450+ rounds down range. Maybe not the best but works for me (not to say there may be quality issues, just not mine).

New to 1911s, not shooting...how to hold the 1911...

Pretty sure my Ronin is now "broke in"...latest trip to the range, ran over 100 rounds (Fed Amer Eagle 230gr) through 4 factory mags and three Wilson Combat mags, with no FTFs...:>). Now I need to ask, holsters, where can I find a quality holster (OWB, Leather)...any recommendations? Found...

    Galco Thunderclap Masterbilt Holster

As promised...from Galco Customer Service: "Thank you for your interest in Galco holsters. Unfortunately, we are not currently making a Thunderclap holster for the 5” 1911 with an optic. The number of requests for a particular gun type influences which holsters are available first."

    Galco Thunderclap Masterbilt Holster

Ok, one other thought, if you have a Springfield AOS model, the 1911 holster featured does not offer an "Carry Optic" option. Oh well, pity. I emailed Galco Customer Service to ask if said option could be in the works, will post a reply.

Springfield Armory 1911 Ronin AOS Review

Range report, I do believe my Ronin is broken-in. This weekend's range trip had 100+ rounds (Fed American Eagle 230gr) with no failures-to-feed. Ran through the 4 factory magazines and three Wilson Combat mags, no flaws at all. I am a happy man...from 5 yd, 10 yd and 15 yd, mix of draw and...

Springfield Armory 1911 Ronin AOS Review

OK, so with today's options, to "dot" or stay iron, well, personal preference. Each has it's strengths, and limitations. My Ronin .45 AoS ACP has quickly become my favorite gun to shoot, yes, it has a green "battery operated dooey on top" but still love to shoot it. It is my first 1911 (yes...

New to 1911s, not shooting...how to hold the 1911...

First of all, thanks for the welcome, and all the posts with links, much appreciated. Finally the weather and timing coincided, had my first range day with the Ronin....loved it. Had a few FTF (just 3 rounds) in the first two mags, but easily cleared. First shoots were way low and left...ok, low...

Thanks for the welcome. And love training, shooting, plinking, getting better.... Shooting is our empty nest sport, blessed with a wife who loves to shoot as well. And will get those targets posted as soon as the weather allows for a good range day. ('cause today here in middle TN it's flipp'in...

New to 1911s, not shooting...how to hold the 1911...

OK, new to the 1911 world, all my other pistols are striker-fired (9mm and .40 S&W). I recently purchased my first 1911 (Springfield Ronin 45 ACP 5")...I wanted a 45 ACP and really like what Springfield did with the Ronin, I digress.... Now, I've been practicing dry-fire, draws, working the...
