New M1A leaking oil around gas plug

Being new to the M1A and Garand platform, I didn't turn the rifle upside down during cleaning. Accordingly. bore solvent flowed into the gas system. Durrr! Learned my lesson! Thanks for all the informative comments.

Shoot While Moving vs. Move Then Shoot

Dang, you beat me to it with the OODA loop. Sig Sauer Academy covers this. Along with that vital piece of information, I've been taught never to assume your adversary is alone. Check your six frequently!

Shoot While Moving vs. Move Then Shoot

I prefer doing a somersault or backflip while under fire. It distracts and confuses my adversary!

My uncle is 90 y.o. USMC. He's slowed down a lot but is an amazing shot. I take good care of him! Just bought a USMC flag for the flagpole in front of his house. He's leaving me his prized M-1! My Dad was 2nd Division USMC fighting the Japanese in WWII. Very proud of both of them! Semper Fi

I hear you with the negativity thing. Some people live for the opportunity to be snarky to others. These are the "keyboard warriors." I don't put up with them but find the need to perform attitude-adjustment tiring. Sorry you are leaving!

the moron's last days in office continue to fail amercan citizens

I have three pairs of cargo shorts and, now that I'm retired, wear them May - November. What have you got against Loc-tite?

the moron's last days in office continue to fail amercan citizens

I appreciate and agree with sentiment expressed in this column! Before you think all is lost, just remember that criminals who hurt or kill children tend not to do well in general population. All it takes is for a sympathetic guard to leave a door open, "forget" to check-in on someone and...

New M1A leaking oil around gas plug

Good post! A few years ago, someone was trying to sell me on F-Lube. I just didn't like the sound of it. Reading your post, I'm glad I didn't use it!

New M1A leaking oil around gas plug

Loose plug! When I went to open plug for inspection, I found it was finger-tight! Don't know how the H*ll this happened. Obviously, I didn't tighten it enough on reassembly and it came loose during initial firing of 300 rounds. What's the rule for tightening?

New M1A leaking oil around gas plug

Hello M1A Community, I took out my brand-new M1A for the first time, putting 200 rounds through it. Everything worked as expected, including nice groups. Back home, I inspected rifle and noted oil seepage, see attached, around the gas plug. My sense is that it's nothing to worry about, unless...

1988 Indiana State trooper Revolver reload training film

Sort of related: I've seen training videos dealing with injured strong hand while using semiautomic. In video. the GI racked the slide using the back of his heel, in the kneeling position. That's great when you're 18 y.o.! I'm a senior and could do it with some practice and Advil! G.

    Is the .380 Auto Obsolete?

That must've been a real wrist-breaker! I never shoot anything heavier than .357 through a Ruger GP 100 w/ 4" barrel. That was bearable, given the gun's heft. Never with a lightweight snub-nose. As I am retirement age and starting to really feel recoil, I will revisit .380.
