    Springfield EMP .40 3”

I don't own one (wish I did) so I can't help much there. It does look like a real good way to use that ammo that you are currently neglecting though. Not that I would ever attempt to be an enabler 😂

    Fixed or Growth mindset?

Exactly, I have heard that at least ten times but didn't retain it. Lol I'm not sure if I am prepared to teach one yet.

    Fixed or Growth mindset?

I did a study on studying once lol. It seems on average in a seminar setting you retain 5% of what you hear, if you participate in an interactive discussion it jumps to 45-55%, and if you teach it jumps again to 95% retention. Granted these are averages but you get the point. A friend of mine...

    Fixed or Growth mindset?

I believe that there is always a way to improve on training and therefore response to situations. The very nature of people dictates that you can not have a cookie cutter approach to training. No one has seen much less trained for every situation that could arise. That is just the opinion of one...

    Red Dot Sight Assistance

This works great with bolt action as well, just remove the bolt, and repeat the same process as above. I can usually zero in with three to four rounds. Poor man's bore sight.

    Red Dot Sight Assistance

My brother had the same issue. The easiest way to overcome it without sending rounds down range is to remove the upper and find a fixed object at 100 yards (50 if you are not going to push it that far out), get a stable platform to rest on, sight the object through the bore, and align the sight...

    Your favorite type of hunting....

My favorite is turkey but I will be happy to hunt anything that will get my kids in the woods. Here is my son's attention span on display during a deer hunting trip.

Who's Else Is Having a Good Time

I have enjoyed my time on the forum. My favorite part is the attitude of those on the forum and the thought put into the posts. I do enjoy the light hearted banter as well.

    Your first Springfield......

My first was an XDS in 2012. I hadn't even heard of them but the shop owner was attempting to make up for a bad experience he helped me into. He was supposed to be saving for some of his dad's favorite customers and got a royal chewing for selling it to me. I'm still glad to this day he took one...

    Your avatar story?

Mine doesn't require much explanation either. After 24 years it's most of what I know. If you don't believe me just ask my wife, she will be glad to tell you.

Is Your Grip Why You Miss?

I've found it much more helpful to video the shooter. If they are having a repetitive problem there is a repeated fault. Most of the time in my experience it is easier to look at their actions with them and they will point out the issue before you need to. It makes it both easier to give and...

    Girlfriend's gun — suggestions?

I will echo everyone else in let her pick. My wife likes a wheel gun but my fourteen year old daughter prefers a semiautomatic. Neither one of them care for the subcompact handguns, not enough grip area for either to be comfortable. Definitely start with lighter recoil loads and let her work up.

EDC~~~~~ How much do you care about it?

If I buy it I intend to use it. I don't buy things to put on a shelf to be pretty. My truck is a tool, it is for work, not to go to town to look pretty in. My firearm is to protect me which I see as an important job. I hate cheap tools! They will almost certainly fail at the very moment that you...

    SHTF Scenario Definition

I agree that there are true Patriots left in this country. I have some around me that have generously offered their wisdom and help. They have the desire to see this country and the people who love it succeed no matter the cost. That is the tie that binds, love for the country, the people who...

What Gun are you glad you got rid of?

I almost went lightweight myself but I wanted to run magnums without feeling it as much on my end. The 640 is easily one of my favorite handguns.

What Gun are you glad you got rid of?

My first and second Kimber K6. The first one would strike the primer randomly and wouldn't advance the cylinder half of the time. After two trips back they sent me a new one "thoroughly checked" and it would shoot a larger pattern than any shotgun I own at seven yards. That's how I came to buy...

Situational Awareness: Tips To Stay Frosty

I also disagree with looking people in the eye for a prolonged period. Let them know that you see them and leave it at that. Being from a small town I always looked directly at people. I had the opportunity to spend a lot of time in Memphis when I was in my early twenties and was confused when...
