I'm outta ink from 27 pens now.

I guess this defines the difference between a hobby and an obsession.... I love shooting but thank God I have a life outside the gun range.

Too much record keeping can be a bad thing too. Especially when you're trying to convince the "authorities" all your guns were lost in a recent boating mishap. I bought my first gun in 1977 so imagine my dilemma. I need several volumes of data just to cover my gun safes.

Project Pinball: Worst Idea of World War II?

Sad... Those P&W R-2800's were considered nearly bulletproof (many fighters returned their pilots to England with multiple cylinders shot away) and were the primary reason the 'Bolt was preferred over the Mustang for ground attack. Any word on that 47 ever flying again?

Project Pinball: Worst Idea of World War II?

Excellent List... Hey while we're one the subject of P-47's, has anyone heard anything about the P-47D called "Jacky's Revenge"? It crashed landed in the Hudson a couple years back, killing the pilot/owner. It was confiscated by the FAA and I haven't heard anything about it since. I know we can...

Project Pinball: Worst Idea of World War II?

The A-10 Warthog is officially called the Thunderbolt II a homage to the Republic P-47 Thunderbolt. The P-47 was the biggest and heaviest single engine fighter of WWII and was used later in the war as an effective ground attack (Mustangs were better suited for bomber escort) and close air...

Project Pinball: Worst Idea of World War II?

The Soviets liked the P-39 because that 37mm cannon was tough on German armor. Also the mid-fuselage positioning of the Allison V-1710 engine made it particularly maneuverable at low altitudes thus well suited for close support of ground troops. That's why it was ordered without the...

Tommy Guns, Fists and Coffee Cups: USS Buckley Repels Nazi Boarders

Read "U.S.S. Borie's Last Battle" by John Hersey. From the compilation "United States Navy in World War II" by S.E. Smith. Also U-Boat Killer or The Golden Horseshoe. All amazing, first hand accounts of action in the Battle of the Atlantic.

    What’s Wrong with the Hellcat?

Don't have one but my son does. I'll have to nitpick a little to find a flaw but here goes. I have an XDs, my complaint with the Hellcat lies with the loaded chamber indicator. It's similar to the S&W Shield. I have to look down (and put on my reading glasses) to see it. I prefer one like the...
