I know it surprised me! I had a few hundred rounds through each before I tried the heavy loads and with the first failure to feed I was convinced it was an anomaly of the ammo, bad lot or something. When it kept occurring with other manufacturers and other loads it was sad. Love both the guns but only shoot <180 gr rounds now.

Yeah M&P seems to have resolved their issues with the FTF from those earlier pre-2024 variants. I'm glad for that, I've been holding off on the Performance Center 5.6" - until I began finding multiple newer videos where they are like 100% eating up any of the really hot Buffalo Bore, Lehigh, Underwood ammo.
I also have the XD-M Elite 10mm 4.5". Absolutely love it. Getting close to ordering the Bar-Sto 5.25" for it

Ughh. That sucks. I wonder if it's a magazine spring issue, or slide spring. Have you tried any of the lighter high-energy ammo? Underwood 155 gr XTP — advertised around 1,500 fps / ~775 ft-lb. Testing has shown roughly 1,430–1,450 fps from 4.5–5" guns. Or maybe Underwood 165 gr TMJ, listed at around 1,400 fps / ~718 ft-lb.
If the lighter loads run 100%, that gives you another piece of evidence that the X-Ten's problem is related to cartridge geometry rather than the 10mm cartridge maybe being "too powerful, or heavy." These are in serious 10mm territory. I know the earlier M&P 2.0 / 10mm variants had random issues with the nukes. Mostly the wide, flat-nosed, hard-cast stuff would get caught in the upper portion "ceiling" of the chamber/feed area. Most of the owners experienced this and were able to fix it for just a few bucks with Spinger Precision mag springs, or an Apex extractor.
I have tried stronger magazine springs, purchased a new magazine tried heavier recoil springs at 26lb and 28lb. And tried them in combination with no joy. They eat the 155 XTP fine so it isn’t a power issue. I believe it is a feed ramp geometry issue related to the wide Meplat of the heavy hardcast or someone suggested a COAL issue but they are all within spec and I measured to be sure. The only minor success was polishing the feed ramp and I got one mag 15 rods, through with no issue. Next mag FTF started again and the feed ramp was visibly fouled. Won’t walk into bear country with them but my XDM has been great so far no issues at n any ammo.

Well, I feel bad about your X-Ten issues, for sure. However, I'm glad to hear of yet another satisfied XD-M owner. They seem to perform at a whole different level. I feel so lucky I made the right decision when I chose to get my 10mm.
