Review: Trijicon’s New RMR HD

Is this confirmation that Springfield is saying the Echelon meets Trijicon’s criteria for the lens of the RMR HD to be safely near the ejection port of the Echelon? It’s in the warning of the manual of the RMR HD.

Hello all, here is today's article posted on TheArmoryLife.com. It is titled “Review: Trijicon’s New RMR HD” and can be found at https://www.thearmorylife.com/trijicon-rmr-hd-review/.

$850 and it's not even a closed emitter, duuuude WTF?!?!?!! What's the logic behind a $850 RDS that competes against SIG and Holosun models that cost $350-$500?

There's a need to stop the "Made in USA" price gauging excuse! "Made in USA" is very much like "Free Range Chicken", and it's always been: it only means "more than x% needs to be made in the US". Where are the electronics coming from, the glass, ...

I'm sure it's a fine RS and passes rugged/MIL-810/IP27 blah blah blah (I do this for a living BTW, ALL $300+ RDS would pass these tests), but is $850 really justified?

was a bit worried about how close the optic sits to the ejection port.
anyone else running this combo or have thoughts on that?

Thread resurrection!

I found this searching online and would offer the following feedback on the Echelon + RMR HD.

Don’t do it.
1) Trijicon tells you straight away in the manual for the RMR HD, don’t do it.
https://www.trijicon.com/uploads/page_content/PML1057-1_Rev(0)_RMR_HD_Manual.pdf ; page 4.
2) If warning number 1 is not sufficient

I swapped from RMR to RMR HD at 8,980 rounds. The first outing was a night shoot and I got this same malfunction, but it was dark and I was a bit hurried and tapped, racked and moved on before taking a picture.

This picture is at round count 9,312.
Ammunition is Magtech 9mm 115 grain

ah bummer @smurfslayer because I'm running the same setup and have had zero issues.

I've put approx 700 rounds through the gun with that optic and have not had 1 single malfunction.
100 rounds of Federal HST 124gr
the other 600+ was PMC 115gr

What is your ejection pattern like? I get one shells popping up right at 12 o’clock. There is not a lot of overhang on the echelon port, FN 509 is way worse, and a bunch more prone to this from videos I’ve seen.

I've given up on Trijicon. It's been years since they had to be getting feedback about things like a green dot and shake awake and yet they release new, ever more expensive units with no new or evolving features. It's as if they think they are the only game in town. No way in hell I pay Trijicon prices for a pistol dot that's red and has to be turned on and off. Or has to be removed to change a battery.

I logged my 4th Echelon FTE, and 9th malfunction in 14,925 rounds last week. Not counting the 2 RMR HD caused... we’ll say caused for now FTE. It seems my Echelon ejects almost straight back and not positive enough to clear sometimes.
5 of the failures were a direct result of the slide stop lever breaking the right side lever where it meets the main assembly. After those 5, the slide kept locking back with round in the mag and on the 2nd time the lever finally came off completely- after which the gun resumed normal function - for 1 magazine. I replaced the lever with minimal issue. I’d only seen the ambi slide stop break on one other gun, M&P 9 and it just broke off at the same spot, and continued to function.

It’s going back for some research and part replacement. I’m not interested in someone firing 50-100 rounds through the gun, it won’t malfunction and they’ll send it back, so it’s getting some new hardware one way or the other.
