This is a GREAT pic! Three 1911s, plus an M1 carbine, PLUS an M3 tank with aircraft-type "nose art"...man, WWII pics just don't hardly GET any better than that! ;) :love:

The 1911 was also carried in Desert Storm and for a period after that. We had a mixture of 1911s and M9s. I observed this in both active duty armor / Cav units and several Nations Guard units.
You're right. All carried .45s in our division during the Gulf War except the few very high ups.
