Good article but some errors. The 3d Armored Division had a heck of lot more than one battalion each of tanks, infantry and artillery. Maybe that was one combat command/brigade, but not the entire division. Armored divisions could be a mix of 5-6 tank battalions, four mech infantry battalions and perhaps up to four artillery battalions. Also the 90mm on the Patton tanks was not underpowered against t-54/55s. Ask the Israelis, who desperately wanted more M48s prior to the '67 war.

Elvis did not go to basic training at Fort Hood. He went to basic training at Fort Chaffee Arkansas. That is where the fam photo was taken of him getting his basic hair cut. There is still a museum where you can get your hair cut in same chair.
