As others have noted, it would be helpful to know the OP's budget and intended use. I have several 1911s including a couple of Commanders in .38 Super. I like my Kimber LW .45 stainless 5 inch as it has been absolutely reliable with all ammunition from day one.
It’s a first 1911; no need to specialize right off the bat.

And while you certainly can go out and buy a Wilson as your first…not many people do.
 
I'll go along with the Rock Island. Its a good entry level gun at an affordable price. I have two and have been very happy with them.
Once you get a feel for it and the basics down, you can go with something fancier if you want to.
It may be your first, but I doubt it'll be your last. ;)
