John Wayne’s private yacht was a Decommissioned WW2 mine sweeper. He wanted a PT Boat put couldn’t get one.
I remember when my dad pointed it out to me as it was leaving Balboa Bay😊

The PT Boats were the guerilla war Navy.

JFK shoulda been brought before a General Court martial for his action, or lack of action.

Just like his brother, Joe Jr., it was his last name, and Daddys political affiliation that kept him from a General Court.

I could go on, but I won't.........


The boat squadrons, and the REAL leaders of them, are the heros.

And before those of you get all indignant, and preachy, JFK went into action because he was shagg'n a German spy.

So it was either a very public outing, or orders into the combat zone.

Yep. He put his boat and crew in unnecessary danger by not doing enough to prevent getting rammed.

Side note: Nauru, now the Republic of Nauru had rich deposits of phosphate and mining started in the 1800s. The Brits basically whittled down an entire mountain in the center of the island and this prevented rain clouds piling up the slopes and cooling enough to rain. Hence the water supply suffered. My 2d cousin, an electrical engineer based in HI, took his team down there and established a power station to power reverse osmosis systems to get fresh water to the populace. He would take regular trips there to check up on the power station and the grid.
