We all know this question is very subjective, but in your mind who would be titled the 'Greatest'? Your words of "He was good, but by no means the GREATEST".... seems to imply you place him somewhere pretty far down the list. Just curious.

I grew up when NASCAR was a Southern thing, running on short tracks, as well as the BIG ones. Earnhardt was a beginner when his betters were still racing........
Richard Petty, Cale Yarborough, Tim Richmond, Bill Elliott, Junior Johnson, and I could go on, and on.......
The greatest, he's not even in my top ten, but he was good.
And NASCAR, hasn't been NASCAR, in a very long time.

NASCAR hasn’t been like you said in many years, to many rules now, went political with Bubba Wallace, which was totally fake, speed limit in pits is stupid, plus I thought to have a car racing, it had to be in current manufacturing, there still racing Camaro’s which went out of production years back. Sad to say, today’s NASCAR is all about the money, nothing more, liked Cale and Junior, didn’t care for Bill Elliot, now his son is a very good driver, and who can forget Harry Gant and the Skoal Bandit and Dick Trickle……

i didn't remember, but then too, i am no fan of NASCAR...only was a "sorta fan" during the years of "stock car racing" way back when, the dinosaurs got mounted by the guys and rode around the track...or was it stomped around the track..???
i only recall many saying "Dale was the Best", so his die hard fans will remember him forever.
