First Look: Model 2020 Heatseeker Pistol

Back in the 80s I lusted after an Anschutz bolt action pistol. The bolt was on the left so that when you needed to cycle the action you didn't need to take your hand off the grip. This handgun, as it is, would be great for a left handed person.

Hello,

Purpose?? What do you do with this thing that can’t be done better with either a real pistol or a real rifle?

Yeah, I get it. This unit certainly seems redundant and over priced, but I think it's COOL. I'll be keeping my eye out for aftermarket customizations to see what kind of conversation piece could be created. Not everything has to be practical. ;) But what do I know? I'm just the bass player.

Hi @jimbobborg. I know you’ve been here for a while and I just wanted to welcome you to the forum from the Wild Wild Upper Midwest. You haven't posted much. Thanks for joining us. I agree the bolt on the right side could be inconvenient for right handed shooters. A folding stock would be handy. I'm going to keep my eye on this unit and hope the price comes down a little. I'm drawn to the "space cowboy" vibe of it. ;)

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

I got that beat already...

It looks so close to the Savage 110 handgun that I wonder who's copying whom. Were I in the market for a long barrel handgun, I don't believe I'd spend upwards of $2k for the bloody thing with less expensive options that are available.

Today's single shot handguns are very capable to 300m when bagged or braced well.

My best shot with the Contender was double bagged at a lasered 403y, no wind, to smack a prairie dog, near Seligman, AZ.

The REM 221 could easily match or surpass the Contender, but the TC had interchangeable barrels.

My dad was really into the idea of a precision rifle caliber pistol like this, he even had the parts, but then the political idiots started making life difficult for us, not for manufacturers obviously as evidenced here, just the people who liked to tinker and build. I still have the parts somewhere around, an uncut bull barrel and oversize billet receiver and bolt, but have decided not to "register" anything I don't have to. They can GFT.

$2k for this is absurd. They didn't even use a left handed rx.

Apologies if I come off grumpy... I live in Virginia..it's the new normal.
