Reading the Room: How to Recognize a Developing Threat

People have long existed due to their innate ability to recognize patterns. Look at Fed and state stats to determine just who/whom your likely attacker might be, given proximity to a known dangerous zone. Who hangs around there, in numbers? What do they look like. This - is not realistic nor helpful - "Stop trying to identify bad guys. That’s not your job. Identify developing problems instead." Oh yes it is by quite a long shot. You will not be attacked by an Amish grandmother out for shopping. Most of us can and do see just who the problem might be, while gassing/charging our vehicles or retrieving them from a parkade.

I have always had a philosophy, not to go anywhere I need to shoot my way out of. Seriously, I always try to look at the other people, and be prepared. My PTSD does not allow for me to sit with my back toward the crowd or door.

After working years as an Armed Security Officer, situational awareness became a way of life. You have to be careful of where you are and your immediate surroundings.
