. 308 m1 grand?

my father passed away last Sunday..

he was a decorated Nam vet and he left me his firearm collection.

one in particular, he couldn't find much about but I'm extremely interested in.

it's a springfield armory m1 in 308 caliber and takes m14 magazines

can anyone possible elaborate farther on what I have?

this will never ever be sold but I am extremely interested in the overall value, although to me it'll forever be priceless

I echo my condolences as well @sureshot308. James River Armory still makes new BM59’s (I bought a fantastic M14 from them through Classic Firearm, they do excellent work).
Midway USA, has one of the JRA BM59‘s currently on sale at their site. Obviously, If your dad’s has an authentic Beretta made rifle, it would be worth more, but as you mention, due to sentimental reasons, it’s priceless In by itself.
Welcome to the forum.

Sorry about the loss of your dad sureshot308 and welcome to the forum.

"this will never ever be sold but I am extremely interested in the overall value, although to me it'll forever be priceless."
- agreed.

For for possible insurance replacement value? Locate 3 online prices comparable to what you have and approx. same condition and adjust price accordingly for valuation. It takes time, 2nd hand pics don't always show everything 1st hand.
There are plenty of online comparables pricewise. Valuewise, to you? - Doubtfully any out there. Good luck on your rifle.

Please allow me to offer my condolences as well. I'm sure that your dad took a lot of pride in his rifle, and knew that when the day came you would as well. Shoot and enjoy it in his memory.
