Palmetto. S&W, and Keltec all make pistols in 5.7. It’s an interesting little round (think .22 Mag rifle ballistics in a handgun). It’s pricy to shoot compared to 9 but the price is coming down. It was originally designed as a PDW for rear echelon troops/armor troops, etc. with capability to defeat body armor at shorter ranges than a typical rifle. (However a a civilian the AP ammo is not an option (nor really needed anyway). From a longer tube it’s similar to the old .22 Hornet. Not a bad round, but certainly not a powerhouse. For the recoil sensitive it might be a good option (better than a .22 WMR pistol). It’s a fairly high pressure cartridge. Most 5.7 pistols are substantially larger than the common 9 mm ccw’s like a P365/Hellcat etc. (think full size pistol vs subcompact). Not my choice for reasons of ammo cost, pistol size, and energy vs a 9/45/10. Buddy has two (Ruger and Palmetto) that he loves to shoot because of the .22 like recoil, but he doesn’t carry either. Know another guy with one of the new KT’s (smallest 5.7 out there) who does carry it and loves it.
