After I retired few month back the department as not found a replacement. So I been doing 2hr classes 3 days out of the week. 6 person max in every class. This last class was Advanced Officers Safety. One of the drills is finding cover. The Officers have choices Old police cruiser (Crown Vic), full size Mail box and bunch of other stuff in Raccoon City. All six when for the car 3 of them choice the A pillar hiding behind the engine one the b post (the middle of the car) and the last 2 behind the trunk area. Each one grab a target on a metal stand and adjusted it. Now before I go on just to let everyone know the CV was complete drain of ALL fluids, battery removed with all the glass removed. First rounds was 9mm, all paper targets saved and no in and out hole. Ammo used was 124gr Nato FMJ. Second round was 5.56 middle paper target not so lucky. We had few in and out all thru the car. 5 of the officers with clean targets started bragging. Then I explained that the weapon you guys just used are the only weapon you can use as per department policy. Bad Guys don't have rules to follow. So I pulled out the AK47, with one past of the car all targets got hit. We set up a video camera to record the targets. I pull out the M1A, normal Nato ammo in and out thru the car. Now here where the stripper clip came into play. Without pulling the mag out I loaded 10 rounds of tracers. Watching the video in the class room was very cool in slow motion. But I like the idea that you can load special ammo without removing the mag.
