another DEI hire moron.....

Old_Me

Emissary
the police chief of Brown was a DEI hire........so of course he had NO actual policing experience.....
====================================================================================

Rodney Chatman's appointment as Vice President for Public Safety at Brown University was a key part of an institutional shift that included a strong emphasis on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives within the campus safety department. This aspect of his role has drawn criticism, with some labeling his hiring as a "DEI hire".

Context of the Hiring
  • Expanded Role: When Chatman was hired in July 2021, the position was elevated to a Vice President role, reflecting a desire for institutional-level leadership that aligned with the university's values.
  • Community Engagement Focus: Brown University President Christina Paxson highlighted not only Chatman's law enforcement credentials but also his ability to "effectively engage our full community in advancing safety on campus in every aspect," which aligned with the national dialogue around policing and justice at the time.
  • Emphasis on Values: Chatman himself noted that the "recognition at Brown that safety is more complex than policing and that success in ensuring well-being takes authentic engagement across the community" made it an ideal opportunity for him. He previously urged other campus police departments to emphasize compassion and community engagement over tactical imagery.

Controversy and Current Status
The focus on DEI within the public safety department has been a point of contention. Critics, particularly after a recent mass shooting on campus, have questioned the department's priorities and focus, with some news outlets and social media commentators referring to him specifically as a "DEI appointed person".
As of December 2025, Rodney Chatman has been placed on administrative leave following the December 13 mass shooting at the university, pending an external review of the incident and campus safety protocols. Former Providence Police Chief Hugh Clements is serving as the interim vice president for public safety and chief of police.

and this:
In 2016, he departed for the University of Dayton, where he became the executive director of campus safety and police chief. In 2020, he moved west and became the police chief at the University of Utah. His yearlong tenure at that school was marred by controversy after he was accused of wearing a badge and carrying a gun before officially becoming a police officer in the state, which is a crime. Those allegations were unfounded, but he spent half of his year on leave.

so tell me dumbocrats....

is DEI actually a proven good thing...?????????

Not to get off topic but I will say this as someone that has worked in a school ad a protection officer/special deputy. It baffles me places still have or are creating an actual school Corp police (ISD) department. It has proven ISD’s do not work as school protection is not a traditional hearts and minds.

Especially in the middle and high schools because it’s the students that have been the shooters at every one of those incidents

So it doesn’t surprise me this happens as superintendents want niceties and appeasement!

What you need is folks that can think outside the box detain people/students when they need it and that can shokt and have no issues dealing out high order violence if need be!

You do not need traditional I am everybody’s friend police work and that is all these departments do and bring. And most are responsive and there are not enough to have each school covered item they have to “respond” to an incident if a school doesn’t have someone armed that can be to wherever in a moments (like well under 30 seconds) there will be a double digit victim count.

Every city in RI is DEI run, almost every school and university is DEI run. This is what the majority of RI voted for. Funny how they all want to hate "millionaire, elite, oligarchs" when that is exactly what they vote for, and exactly what is running their schools and universities. The DEI president of Brown is clearing 3 million a year. Brown has a $8 BILLION endowment. And the idiots wonder why education at these universities is so expensive? Really? You can't fix stupid. They have no right to complain about the cost, and they have no right to beg for loan forgiveness. Again, they voted for it, they own it, they deserve what they get. And before anybody gets their panties in a wad, I clarified "MAJORITY". Which doesn't mean ALL. It takes a MAJORITY to elect what they have. So, correctly, the MAJORITY voted for this.

I am visiting my Son and grandson in Seattle for Christmas. And it’s the same way the extreme left has spread up I 5 and made everythjng expensive and in the big city (we are fortunately in a burn that is better as far as bums but still$$)

What is funny I sent a pic of gas prices to a buddy and he went I. A rant about he’d never move to a bkue state yada. Problem is it could come to you. California was but a bad state and went Republican for President until 1992. And it slowly changed and spread up I 5.

My state of Indjana Jase some of aindy all of Bloomington and north around Chicago as the progressive tide branching out so in anither 3 decades I am concerned what the landscape will be.

No different than TN with Nashville and Memphis, Texas with Austin and Dallas etc.

So in 25 years nobody will have to move it will be closer so button up!

They constantly elect the very oligarchs/authoritarians/fascists/dictators they claim they are against. Like I said, the majority of the people who vote for them are morons. And hypocrites. Unfortunately, these kinds of cities are all over the country, including here in Florida.
