A couple of LGS that I frequent say that 90% of the buyers are first time purchases. There are a quite a few people that are panic buying because they don't have much in the line of guns. When I was at Sportsman's warehouse there was a guy saying that he needed a certain gun to balance out his pairs. He didn't sound very gun knowledgeable, more prepper than gun ownership.

Ha! I loved in the comments the guys friend that went to buy a firearm and his wife was denied because she punched a COP while drunk in college. Reality is funnier than fiction.
