At long last I was able to make it to the range today. Nothing spectacular really, but it felt good and my head was in the right space. I only brought one pistol with me, and seven loaded magazines (I hate loading at the range - don't mind reloading though
). I haven't been training with the Masada Slim as often as I should so I wanted to concentrate on that alone today. I confess I am still getting used to the dot, but by the end of today's session it was coming easier again.
There weren't many people there today, not in the pistol range anyway.
I shot about 200 rounds of Blazer Brass 124gr out of the Slim with only one FTF. I cleared it without a hiccup and carried on with no more issues. FWIW that magazine was loaded with rounds from the same box that the round that jammed in my PDP came from. I don't know if that's significant, but I wanted to keep that bunch separate just in case.
Anyway, I tore up a couple of targets and then I figured I'd better take a pic of one just to prove I was actually shooting
. The clubhouse is air conditioned, but inside the range is not (not today anyway), and toward the end my glasses were fogging up, as it's warm and muggy out. This was the last target. Not horrible, bad guy would be leaking bad.
It felt really good to shoot that little gun today, but I might have to rethink the aggressive Talon grips I put on it. I'm torn, I really prefer an aggressive grip texture, but it was wearing into the web of my hand. It didn't leave a blister though, so it'll stay for now. I am going to work with this gun more often and we'll see what happens. I need to be more consistent in training with my carry guns, and not so much the "fun" guns, so this little side kick of mine will be seeing more action.
So, until next time...
