Basepads or mag extensions for prodigy

While shooting today at my local outdoor range I cracked the corner of the polymer basepad on an oem 17rd duramag for my prodigy without initially realizing it. Later that crack allowed the basepad to fly off entirely when I inserted a fully loaded mag into the gun. This hilariously emptied the mag with all of its contents including the ammo, the spring, the follower and the basepad retainer onto the ground while the mag tube itself remained in the frame.

Not at all upset about the basepad breaking because this outdoor range I shoot at often has a concrete path you fire from so dropping mags was bound to damage something eventually.

Anyways I wanna know what after market aluminum basepads you recommend? I really don’t want a large magazine extension on there because I like my primary carry mag to be roughly flush, and keep an extended mag as my back up.

Some options I’ve seen on ben stoeger pro shop that may do the trick:

-Dawson Precision prodigy basepad
-Cheely Custom prodigy basepad
-Springer Precision magazine extension (a +1 extension for both 17 and 20 round mags, doesn’t stick out too far past flush)

Another option would be to just replace the mag entirely with an aftermarket mag that has an aluminum basepad already. This might be the way to go considering this will be a carry mag.

A takeaway from this is perhaps I shouldn’t be running reload drills on a concrete surface with the mags I also intend to carry with haha. In the mean time I still have two 20 rounds mags in good shape I’ll carry with until I find the best option.
