Decades ago, a buddy of mine worked from home. Kids and wife went to school/work for the day and he was in his home office on the computer.

Mid morning he got up to go take a shower to meet me at a clients for a meeting. He showered and went back to his office to work some more on the presentation, Laptop was gone. Well so was his wallet, keys, and other things from the house. Back door was open. Gate ajar. They had come in while he was in the shower and robbed the house.

He was freaked out and kept a handgun in the bathroom after that. His pistol was in always in the bedroom nightstand, but they didn’t take it or go thru bedroom. They probably heard the shower.
