The M1 Garand is one of the iconic battle rifles of the 20th century, but with some modification, could it be a great general-purpose rifle for the 21st? Here's our attempt to modernize the M1 Garand.

I did this project on one of my M1's.

The only differences are I stayed with a standard stock since the Bell & Carlson's are basically unobtainable, and I didn't use the Halbrook device since I prefer the standard operation.

I also went with a different adjustable gas plug to tune the load to the gun, and a muzzle device.

This type of mod does make a heavy rifle heavier & more bulky.

I wouldn't say this mod makes the M1 more modern, but more flexible.
