Crimpin 45-70

How many of you put a crimp on 45-70? I'm doing load development for my 1895g. Low-powered Remington 405s hit 6-7 inches above my 300gr TSXs at 50y but the TSX loads pack way more punch. Middle of the box on Barnes' chart. Does a crimp have that effect on point of impact? I'd think the hotter loads should hit higher.

Yes crimping is need on hot loads for sure. be careful with the short bass.

I have the 300 original from barnes for my marlins and would crimp them all. Just my way. Also have some 250s from barnes also for my sbl.

Hornady FTX aka Gummie tip bullets comes with short brass and you need a special crimp die for them

Brass bullets? I've never seen any, but that doesn't mean a lot?

The FTX has a brass case, just shorter.
