Fuel prices

Diesel locally is just under $4 as many other places in the state are just under $3. That means off road/farm fuel is stupidly pri 🤬 ! Having a 34 gallon msin tank and a 66 gallon tank in the p/u bed is helpful when traveling to lower fuel cost places. At summit racing they sell a 66-68 gallon replacement for the 34 gallon factory tank ($1,200 or so, could be wrong) and a 20 gallon auxiliary if removing the spare tire. So I could get as much as 154 gallon that could get me as far as or between 1,540-3,456 miles of travel. I want to rid myself of this and all diesel vehicles and get back to my big blocks that give me better mags especially when towing! I'm already lining myself out for a TT 6.6 or 8.1 gas (the 8.2 has siamese bores, bores that have no water/coolant jacket between them). Estimated hp and tq will be 450-600hp and 800-1,200tq.

I've been able to stretch my PUs' (gas) range to ~1,000 mi. with reg & aux tanks.

You must have a long extension cord.

What are tank capacity and average mpg on which fuels.

With the majority of my driving being 7 miles to town and back the diesel averages around 13. 5.3 in suburban about 16 on 86 octane. IIRC the tank capacity is 28 gallons. Back in '15 i was able to go from home to Houston and have about an 1/8 left. That's somewhere around 600 + miles there. The diesel used to get 24-26 empty (non-towing) on the highway. Now 85,000 later it might get 20-22 on a good day.

18+28 in containers can get me from my place to a friends place in CO at highway speeds.

I can get ~400 miles on the first at highway speeds.
Long-distance driving in the Intermountain West & Plains states west of the "River" is pretty straight forward with low traffic levels and lots of time on cruise control in the good weather months.

However, that all can change during the crappy winter months, and during bad weather events in the late spring-fall periods.

Hi,

Sure, I'll play. ;)

Here in the Upper Midwest, last week regular was $2.08. This week it's $2.20. The flex fuel E85 has been around $1.50-$1.60. My truck will ruin on it, but I don't care for the power loss or lower mileage. Maybe I should try tank and really crunch the numbers, find out which has the lowest cost per mile.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff
