The M1 and M14 trigger guards are the same size. I have never had a problem fitting my meat hook fingers in there, even with TFM.
Steve, the first thing I did after 9/11 was get a caliber 30, M1. it will never be sold, it is in prefect condition, with a new NM op rod and barrel.
My ole man hops islands in WWII, when his BAR burnt up, while looking for another one, he would get an Garand, keep fighting until he found another BAR.
This is what he told me, back when I was a young boy:
"If you are in a jam, grab an Garand, it wont."

It's not about the size of the trigger guard or fitting your finger in there.
NO, NO, NO! As a young cop I had one on my J-frame. Went to holster it and the shoe caught the side of the holster and it fired. Luckily only creased my butt. Never again for me!

I don't see the need for a trigger shoe on a handgun.

if i were to invest in a "trigger shoe", it would be for my range toys, not my EDC's.
i have read however, where that was an "old way" of widening the contact grip of a trigger...nowadays, we can get a wider trigger.
thing is, do i want a cheap way to just put one on..??
or the more expensive and time consuming way of buying a new trigger,, disassemble, install, then reassemble the gun..???
at my age, i prefer quick and easy, like buying a lottery ticket, and becoming a gazillionaire, rather than wait a kabillion years for my social security to get me there.

The USGI M14 EBR Trigger Shoe is painstakingly designed and carefully machined to optimize the ergonomics of a pistol grip stock, and is angled so the trigger finger can pull straight back, versus the up/back direction of the traditional M14 in a wrist-style stock. The shoe is wider and longer... it gives your trigger finger more surface area to work with. The trigger pull feels natural & lighter with the shoe installed, and the tip of the factory trigger can no longer stab the tip of your trigger finger. It was meant for the ARMY M14EBR-RI, but it ended up being issued on the NAVY MK14 Mod 2 because the good folks at TACOM were in a rush to push as many EBRs out the door as fast as possible.
