if machining of tight tolerances was critical these tools wouldn't be used anyways. i've been reloading for just over 40 years and have used dome of the most low dollar calipers. the trick is to always check/set "0" before and check after every single use and measure at/in the same spot on the caliper. if qc isn't controlled it doesn't matter how much the tool cost. as for the video...........those that had more weight when he had it vertical i wonder if he "0" it before (subtracted the weight of each tool ie)! details are important! i've used low dollar dial calipers of plastic and ss w/o any issues of sway. i've also use digital calipers ranging from $15-90 which is very low by many standards. even with those i've maintained my regiment on how i process measuring. keep debris off the surfaces can help measuring more accurately/even. if it were to use micrometers (inside or outside) i would definitely use the higher dollar tools. a far as the mitutoyo goes even their qc can be off (going from people i've talked with and not just reviews). for longevity the higher dollar measuring tools will/can last longer. the general (brand) digital is what i've used, but the only issue i've had with that brand is dead electronics (even after a new battery).
