Nice article .  I disagree with his thoughts about cutting the  sweat guard off . I have used several with a sweat guard and never had a bit of trouble.  As he said some might and if they do then I can see cutting it off. 
One thing I can relate as to my own experience concerning holsters is to never use a thumb break strap holster for a 1911.  I have used two , a DeSantis belt holster ( the worst ) and a horizontal shoulder holster made by Galco , and both , if you moved just right , would kick the safety off.  Carrying cocked and locked , I didn't like that happening.
If you have a holster of this style , you can test it by putting your pistol , unloaded of course , in the holster , snap the strap  and then push the reinforced portion backwards toward the bottom of the grip with your thumb. It will disengage the safety.   It doesn't take much pressure either.
