How fast can you reload?

This came out of the two gun thread. Over years Ive carried revolvers both single action AND double action. When I carried a SA revolver for self defense (yeah I was that guy), I always carried a second gun (sometimes a third) as a "reload". When I carried a DA/SA gun I always carried a couple speed loaders but never speed strips because they seem too slow, especially in an age of hi cap pistols that I might have to face.

At least one spare mag for a pistol, even a hi cap pistol seem prudent BUT it has to be accessible, and Id suggest always in the same position on your body, so theres no hesitation finding it

How fast?

Hi,

This is me performing a drill we use at my range. You'll see two targets. #1 gets three center, two head, reload, then #2 gets three center, two head. This was not my best run, about 8 seconds.

I like the XD line because they have the ambi mag release. I used my trigger finger to release the mag because my thumb is not quite long enough and I have to turn the grip. It's the same with my 1911s. I'm thinking about an extended mag release if I want to carry any of those.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

Uh oh. This won’t be Pieter approved 🙄

DON'T DO THIS!
Well, that would depend on if I spit/tap a ball down a smoothbore, or ram a tight pillow ticking patched ball down a rifle.;)😖:ROFLMAO: BTY I could get of 5 shots in one min. just holding 5 .577 lead round balls in your mouth gets a bit crowed but doable. Safety standards? What's that? Not only was I young and dumb, I was (am?) a complete idiot.

Years ago during a requalification one drill was load an empty 870 with three rounds and engage the target. One round through the port, close the action two in the mag. The drill was run with two officers competing with each other. Just my luck, my opponent was one of the young high speed low drag type. Well, he laughed and kidded me about being old and slow. The buzzer sounded and he went at it like a house a fire, until the heal of his palm hit the underside of the gun throwing the round clear acrost the range. He just stood there looking dumbfounded, while I loaded 1... and another...and another (maybe I slowed down just a bit to watch he expression on his face:devilish:) then engaged my target. I've also seen men quick draw the sidearm, lose control and throw the gun down range. Beat the dog snot out of a mag trying to seat it backwards. Fast is fine until you trip over your own feet. If I have to reload, I'm already sol. So an extra split second to make sure it's done right ain't going to kill me any faster than I'm dying already.

I don't recommend this either...

There's an elevator door in the downtown police headquarters of the Tucson Police Department, that was killed in the line of duty. It seems that one particular officer thought it a good idea to practice his quick draw in the reflection of the door.

To my knowledge, the door has never been repaired, the real good thing is that the ammunition issued could not pass completely through and was stopped in the elevator door.

Lesson learned by the officer was suspension cost money, and one should keep the booger hook off the bang switch until there is a credible threat! 😂 😂😂

A fellow officer was showing me his new M-29 standing at the dispatcher's desk. He opened the cylinder dropped the rounds on the desk. While d/a pulling the trigger it went off going through a wall striking a clock in the chief's office. Obviously there was round left in cylinder I About tripped backing up rather quickly. Couldn't believe the guy barely got an a** chewing but did have to buy the chief a new clock.

How fast?
well, if you mean how fast can i reload my ammo on my Dillon 550c...i'd say about 4 hours to do 500 rounds.

if you mean from one magazine to another at the range..??

about 45 minutes..after all, even at the range (or club), nap time is important time......

seriously though, i have my magazines pre-loaded, so a few seconds...i never timed myself

Probably faster than you think.

For concealed carry?

As a civilian, I don’t expect that my day would be so bad that I’d have to engage a roving band of jihadists or gangbangers.

I’m pretty content with my 6-shot Colt Agent. I don’t sweat a reload.

Now range time? Reloading bench?
Targets aren’t shooting back at me and at the bench I’m taking my therapeutic time.

Forever since I had my stroke!

Seriously, my right side was affected by the stroke and I lost both strength and dexterity in my right hand. And wouldn't yq know if, I'm right handed! 😂 😂 😂
