I love my M1A

Hello everyone! I'm new to this forum so please bare with me. I currently have a M1A Scout and absolutely love it! Fun to look at. Fun to talk about, but most of all. Fun to shoot! Just the other day I was constantly ringing a 15" gong at 350yds with my M1A Scout fitted with a 2.5 fixed power telescopic optic. Man it was a blast! In fact I love my M1A so much I'm buying another one! This time Im looking at the SOCOM CQB with the Vortex red dot. Only one thing is holding me back from the purchase. I'd like to know how easy or hard it is to remove the Vortex sight from the Stripper clip guide? If it's a pain I'll probably just buy the CQB without the red dot. Can anyone help me out with this question please? Any Information is much appreciated. Also, how high is the comb on the butt stock adjustable to. Dose it adjust high enough for a comfortable fit looking through a fairly high telescopic's

I had no issue removing mine but you will need a couple brass punches and a brass hammer, brass is used because if you miss there will be no damage. I believe I have instructions so I’ll post them.

Ok. Roger that. Thanks. I'm familiar with using brass punches on friction fit drift mounted sights and accessories. Is the Vortex fairly easy to reinstall also?

Welcome! The Scout was my first M1A back in the 90's, and it was a great rifle.

Back in 2011 Smith Enterprise introduced their version of the Socom 16 when they built a CQB-16 type SEI for me, this rifle has been in many different stocks and it's used many different aiming devices. After all of my experimenting, I settled on a light weight Blackfeather RS using their high butt stock adapter and long sight plane optic rail. Flip up irons, a red dot, or a scope, I don't need to mess with cheek risers & combs to use any of them. Maybe this will inspire you.
