Is There Hope For Blue Cities and States? Maybe.

Hi,

TL,DR - Portland decriminalized hard drugs. It turned out badly so they pivoted. But it's still quite a struggle with their progressive policies.

Thank you for your indulgence,

democrats believe that if they decriminalize illegal drugs (or any crime) the 'crime rate' goes down. If the police are not arresting for illegal drugs or illegal drug use is not being reported, there are no records, therefore a decrease in 'crime'. It's a bizarre philosophy. It's failing anywhere it applied.

If it's not fetanyl, it'll be some other new drug manufactured probably in china, distributed probably by mexico, ignored by liberals and abused by dumba** dopers who can't function in society. Hard to feel sorry...

Good ole' Rolling Stone bemoaning a condition they helped glorify for decades. I wish it would shut its pie hole. Thank goodness I visited and went to school in these West Coast poop holes before they imploded.

My solution would never be adopted which is return to city states. Other than national defense and some commerce they are their own masters in terms of funding and law and order. Go for it.

The blues states will never change.
Take Illinois for instance, socialist programs will always keep them dependent on the government.
The state refuses to do the hard work, if you O.D. we will give you narcan so keep using drugs.
Theft, gun crimes, carjacking and assault are rarely prosecuted, because of the governors Safe-T-Act, if they are not prosecuted crime stats look good, and they can rely on a democratic vote.
It is very sad that 2/3 of this state has to fund the worst cities Chicago and Joliet for their inept practices.

The Dems mantra over the last 100+ years is..."We'll get it right next time" but every individual locale that they control is a "petri-dish" case so they keep experimenting with folks lives.

Now, regarding drugs, they legalize what they can and make minor adjustments when the SHTF.

Oregon has really gone down the tubes since I lived there in the late 70s and through the 80's, based on the Dems taking over since their power base is the Willamette Valley between Eugene and Portland. They give the "normal" folks in the rest of the state the middle-finger.

The last time I went over to OR I timed it to go through Portland at the best time of the day and when going down I-5 every Rest Area was a "Transient Camp" so when you needed a B-room break you had to make it as fast as a F-1 pit stop.

Prior to that in the early 2000's I was in Portland for CE training and the "feral" youth gangs were just starting to make a presence. On an early evening river walk one gang saw me and rushed over. Although outnumbered I had a stareing contest the "female" group leader down (she was totally "wacked out"). For whatever reason she figured out I wasn't worth doing anything to and marched the gang off. I got back to my motel asap.

The former OR governor Tom McCall once said "Don't Californicaze Oregon" but he is likely revolving in his grave now. The Oregon I loved back in the day is gone, and a colony of Kalifornia, although on the "East-side" you can still avoid the crazies, except for the Bend-Redmond area.

As Margeret once said...

and the Dems like to spend others $$ with their experiments as the POTUS 46 admin just did.

No . ( At least not for a generation , combined with change in voting patterns .)

I left Illinois almost 40 yrs ago because of the Democrats in Chitown. Never looked back

I've always thought that they should decriminalize all drugs. Hell, give 'em away for free. Anything you want, as much as you want. Here! Take it!
I figure in just a few months, the drug problem will take care of itself.
add in stop using narcan over and over on the ones passed out or OD in the streets
let them GO....
i know thats not morally correct
but i watched on live pd,,,week after week same people getting saved by narcan...WHY

Most of them are scaling back the uber progressive stuff because they're broke and crime ridden. They are still electing nothing but democrats.
I live in Portland, OR. They haven't scaled back one little bit! Here's the flow - CA does something stupid so little sister WA follows suit. Then the alphabet crew (LTQBGT+) in OR jumps on the bandwagon. The answer is simple, if you are unfortunate enough to live where a 6'3" 320# dude wearing a dress and fire engine red lipstick is behind the counter at the coffee shop, you're in a state that will be blue until the end of time. Not a damn thing you can do about it; not legally anyway. If your state is red but getting purple, find a way to put an end to that sh*t immediately! Otherwise you'll wake up one day with a lesbian governor, rampant drug use in the streets, unchecked crime, homelessness beyond belief, and a city that was once beautiful is now a disgusting breeding ground for extreme liberalism. When your city burns through police chiefs at the rate Portland does, it is far past time to question the city politics.

I watched cops Narcan a dude in downtown STL. I asked them what they were doing. They said they Narcan'ed the same guy earlier that day. I asked them why they kept doing it. The one pointed to his body camera.

Back in the 70s, when wine/booze was the problem, we always thought cordoning off part of downtown L.A. and installing fountains flowing with the dregs of the San Antonio Winery. Although, come to think of it, most rummies and winos were easy to deal with, not like druggies today!
