IWB Holster

Hi,

What holster for the S&W Shield plus in 9mm.Specifically for appendix carry.

Holsters can be hard. Sometimes it takes a few tries to find what works for you. I have AIWB holsters for most of my pistols. After a little trial and error I've decided that Rounded by Concealment Express is my favorite brand for simple concealed carry. No matter what kydex you use, I would suggest a good gun belt (Hanks, Kore, etc), DCC clips to firmly attach holster to belt, and a muzzle pad (Tier 1 Concealed) for comfort.

There are literally hundreds of holster makers, most of them make good products. Don't worry if it takes you a few tries to find your best.

Thank you for your indulgence,

Good morning, Mike. I don’t know why exactly that you are mad, but don’t let your search for an AIWB holster add to your anger and frustration. 😁.

As far as my recommendation, I have been carrying AIWB since I first started my CCW journey. There are a lot of manufacturers making holsters and the choices are many. I settled on Crossbreed hybrid. The leather backing can be a little uncomfortable until the holster is well broken in, but our bodies have a “fold” where the holster rides and leather can mold to that fold over time. Even well broken in like mine is now, it can get just a little uncomfortable when I sit a lot. I have had to “tighten up” the Kydex once because it seems to stretch a little over time. I don’t have experience with a bunch of other holsters like some here, so I cannot offer much help regarding the holsters that are all Kydex. Unlike many folks here, I have never bought a stiff gun belt. My preference is for a little more flexible belt that will “give” a little with my body movements but still hold the holster and contents securely. To each their own though.

Good luck with your search. Unfortunately, their isn’t a good way that I know of to try a lot of different holsters without buying a drawer full, but I did my research early and have stayed with Crossbreed. Whatever you wind up with, always be carrying.

I have been using Vedder Light Tuck for years now including my shield and the work great for any carry gun. They are thin yet strong and have good adjustments. The bels clip is secure and I have never had one come loose on the draw. It can be adjusted for both angle and depth. The holster also has a tension screw to get just the right tension on the gun

I do Falco holsters or C&G holsters. Falco usually takes a little bit to get but well worth the price if you have something odd like a Glock G23.5 with a Streamlight TLR-1

Check out Kusiak if you want thin molded leather... https://kusiakleather.com/

Having said that, their customer service isn't as good as it once was, slow turn around and inaccurate estimate of completion and shipping. Prices can be reasonable or they can be outlandish depending on which style you want. Some holsters are in stock and ready to ship. They are sometimes found on ebay.
