Jogging woman mauled by bear in Alaska

Said they’d just moved to Alaska (no idea where from or where to in Alaska). Most people today have literally NO concept of themselves being considered “prey”. Zero idea of the potential dangers in wild areas. I always carry an SD firearm, but when I’m in wilderness areas that will be a LOT heavier caliber than what’s on my hip at home-in the toolies out west it’s a 69 Smith 4.25 barreled .44 Mag. In the east it’s more likely a 3” Smith 357. In NO walks am I totally unarmed. I’m not ever looking for trouble, but I do intend to beat least minimally prepared to defend myself and mine.

It's a terrible out come and one can only imagine the night terrors the woman will have to endure. I have lived and worked in the high country and only dellt with black bears. The early days I carried a 45 LC later years was a 41 mag
good to see someone else "saying"..Colt LC like me.....not Colt 45

old ways, old habits hard to change.

just like Dodge over RAM trucks....

i grew up knowing DODGE....not this RAM crappola.

A jogger was killed by a Griz outside of West Yellowstone, MT a couple years ago.

A woman from Iowa died in Glacier NP the other day, and a few others have died there also this year, with some having to be rescued also.

Another woman got chewed on my a Griz in Glacier NP last week.

And Out-of-state hunters get chewed on by Griz.

We also have outsiders go swimming or boating in unsafe high-water conditions and don't make it.

Too many newbies & tourists think the Northern Rockies are like Disneyland, and should be much more aware where & what they're doing in the Region than in the more sedate parts of the country.
