Hey Mike,
Enjoyed the review. Especially like the trigger sensor so you don't have to recycle like other laser systems require. One question, is there a computer component that can let you track hit performance and progress?
Interesting system. Having the ability to dry fire/train with your own platform/trigger is the way to go. I have the original Mantis Blackbeard system for my AR. The BCG and charging handle come out and the Mantis module goes in. The system is powered by a rechargeable "magazine" battery. The "BCG" unit has an integrated laser that paints the target every time you pull the trigger. The trigger resets after every pull (without the need to mount a sensor, etc. behind it) and I've never been able to beat the reset, so multiple shots/rapid fire are a breeze.
The new version of the Blackbeard system (Blackbeard X) adds integration with the Mantis app and provides all the drills and feedback we've come to know and love. It's a little more expensive ($319 when I looked at the Mantis site this morning), but I've had great results with the Mantis products I've used. As always, YMMV.
