Lights and Micro Pistols: Handheld or Weapon-Mounted?

not a fan of wmls. If one is not outside at night - less need for one and I'd rather have a real flashlight in that case. Micro pistols already are enough challenge if you have big hands, adding a light to a micro carry? nah.

When I read about how many guys that only carry a J Frame in their pocket, I am pretty sure the added bulk of a light is a non-starter for them. I use the flashlight I carry all the time...could not whip out a pistol with a weapon mounted light to read a menu in a darkened restaurant! Besides, if I was going to carry the extra weight/bulk of a light on my sidearm, I would rather carry my regular Streamlight and carry a bigger pistol.

If your walking around with a micro that has a red dot and a light mounted then you really should just carry a mid size or full. I mean really what's the point. Micro is micro for a reason, concealed to the max. Why not just go full Dirty Harry and carry a 44 in a shoulder holster. I swear these articles get a little more window licking good every day.

I'll be the odd man out. I put lights on everything I can. They don't weigh enough to bother me. Their size has never hindered anything for me.

For me target identification is more important than getting a first shot off. Also, I appreciate the ability to have a free hand if needed, in a low light situation.

I have one weapon mounted light because my wife wanted it. Its Not exactly common one though i will admit.

I did select my only striker pistol the P365xl with the idea that if I wanted and needed an optic and lights it could be done easily.

Personally coming from a 2nd shifter that leaves work from 22:30 or 00:30 or 02:30, I have preference for a light. I should buy stock in streamlight lately with getting 5 or 6 lights in the last year. Yes I am a big boy (6’ and 275 pounds) and the HCP even has a light on it.

See, this is why I don't normally run wheel guns. I prefer DA/SA but it is to hard to hang a light on one of these. I mean I have one on my Judge (I have one, really like it, the holster maker said, "WTF? You want what?"). Otherwise they are all but non-existant.

I mean you can pick up a Smith TRR8 or a Korth but that is silly money and requires a GIANT holster. Why do that when I could buy two or three CZ's and maybe a second SA-35 to turn into a project (you know, add a rail for a light)...
