Lipsey’s Exclusive S&W Model 629 Mountain Gun

I have to have one , but l'm trying to justify it when l have a 1980's M624 , and a .41 Mountain Gun .

And the " Canadian Bbl Length" vs true 4 inch irks me .

If l don't get the gun , l will have to get some of the licensed Deacon Deason ( Skelton) grips .
 
Is it me, or is the Lipsey top rib crooked ?

I hear the concept of " most lightest is best -est " , but take that with a very large grain of salt .

Most things ( gun -ish ) have a range of weight " suitable for purpose " . And today's materials engineering makes it possible to make things Too Light ( & Too Small ) .

For a .44 Magnum , to be useful as a real .44 Magnum , with vaguely acceptable control requires a certain amount of Mass . A steel frame N Frame, with 4 inch taper bbl is probably it .

When l picked up the M624 and imeadately fell in lust with it , it was only 10% the overall weight , and 90% the Balance .

Walking in steep mountains? 10oz is negligible. Reduce 10oz of something else in your pockets / pack , or get 0.001 % in better shape . ( Yeah, l get it , if you have bad knee or something it's not that simple . But 10oz differential compared to 200 plus lb me , is still trivial percentage . )
