M1A - Barrel replacement

I've been informed my M1A has a barrel problem and needs to be replaced. Which company would you recommended to supply and install a new barrel? Local gunsmith (Cody, WY) does not have the necessary tools.

Contact Springfield. If the barrel is bad, they may replace it under warranty.

Grayfox is right...call SA. It's worth a phone call...they replace stuff that's not a manufacturing defect all the time.

Thanks. Local gunsmith. Some corrosion/pitting and one of the lands has broken away. Rifle purchased second-hand about 10 years ago, so it's more than likely way beyond any warranty.

If the barrel is in that bad a shape then the rest of the rifle needs a thorough evaluation by a gunsmith very skilled in M1As to check the rest of it, especially the op rod.

Besides a new barrel, at a minimum it likely needs new springs.

I had mine done by the "M1 Guy" out of Chicago. I heard he passed during the ved.
Nice National Match barrel.

Been checked, all else is good to go. "Been well looked after but the barrel's past its use by" was the verdict, but I'll confer with Fulton about further checks. Thanks for the advice.

SAI, SEI, FA are all good sources for barrel replacement, and if it was ever your plan - this is a good time to consider a barrel upgrade.
