Mossberg put a lot of work into growing the 940 Pro line recently, which now includes the new 940 Pro Tactical since it rolled out.

Take a hard look at the enhanced 1301 Tactical. Very impressive.
I'm sure there are several fine operating semi's out there, but I'm not a big SG fan and only own 2. If any of my kids get into SG's then we'll take a look. I believe you and @Bassbob will post honest reviews and take both of you at face value! You both are my go-to's on SG info! @BET7, well he's a bird of a different feather 🫣

I will stick with my old 500, it's done every single thing I need a shotgun for 30 years. I expect it will do for the rest of my lifetime. But there are always temptations in every gun shop so who knows.

If somethibg follows me home it sure could be this one.

My 30 plus year old 500 still plays an important role in my life that's for sure. Even though I keep buying new ones I never neglect the old girl. Only mishap she ever had was when the factory safety wore out after 30 years of tens of thousands of rounds. Replaced with an NDZ enhanced safety and she's still a beautiful, brutal machine.

It's really all about the budget brother. In my case I went with the 1301 T because I loved it, not because I thought it would scratch the itch for the M4. It didn't and I will be adding that one soon. ;)

That said, if you aren't a shotgun junkie and you just want a balls to the wall, infallible, semi-auto shotgun you can get into a 1301 T, which does have a few advantages over the venerable M4 actually, for about a grand less.
