Get it machined.I have a 1st gen XD40 Seevice model. It has no provision for a red dot to be mounted.
What is the best way to mount one?

If you go that way @Talyn suggest Springer Precision. From his recommendation I bought 1 for the 5.25" precision from them. Good mount!Quickest is to get a plate that uses the rear sight dove tail cuts to then mount your RD on.
Second would be to find a competent machine shop to cut the slide down and drill and tap holes for your desired RD.
You forgot liquid nails and JB weldHave you tried a hot glue gun, zip ties, or duck tape?
Lol...jk
A good machine shop can mill your slide but this will most likely cost roughly $100 - $150 and this method typically doesn't come with a cover plate when the RDS is off the pistol. Also you will lose resale value with a custom milled slide but it is a solid way to go.
The Springer Precision dove tail red dot plate is the least invasive and it's cost effective being only $50. With the dove tail plate you will be sacrificing your factory rear sight as it will be removed for the red dot plate. You can convert your pistol back to factory very easily with this method.

Long live the 80's when Aqua-Net was holding every terrible hairstyle together and the ozone layer was deteriorating faster than rust on a dodge....Maybe a good woman's hairspray as it's bulletproof also![]()
I was thinking of using a mix of titebond and Elmer's glue then setting it with aquanet. You don't think that will work???Long live the 80's when Aqua-Net was holding every terrible hairstyle together and the ozone layer was deteriorating faster than rust on a dodge....
