Who knew these old B Horror flicks that I watched as a kid were going to come true .

We're are gonna need more Hot Shot, a ton of rhe long distance stream type, A TON I tell ya.... OMG OMG

You might need an “M4 style assault rifle”, which is the current adjective du jour for a run of the mill AR pistol.
 
Living tissue does not become radioactive despite being affected by it. An exception might be, repeat might be bone tissue. IOW no glow in the dark people walking around like in the movies. I would agree with part of the anti-nuke crowd's complaint that there is not enough information on this. If the nest was radioactive then what type? What strength; 10 times above regulatory restrictions is what exactly? If there were no wasps found I can certainly make a guess as to why: they died. This would be especially true of developing larvae because radiation affects rapidly dividing cells the most.

PS: THEM is one of my favorite movies.
