Only when pigs can fly!

Instead of grump when I’ve encountered some family members with differing opinions I have a conversation. Like a real conversation where people are listening not just waiting for their turn to speak. Often you learn something about their point of view and they yours. At the end you don’t have to agree and can still enjoy a beer together.

Recently my brother, who isn’t at all anti firearms, but discussion of mass shootings came up and he sites Australia but only had half the story. We discussed how rules were enacted and voluntary turn in, but major investment was made into mental health, poverty and essentially violence instead of the tools. Additionally it’s a country the size of USA with population of New York and New Jersey

Did you point out that in reality only about 30% of Australian guns actually got turned in to the government ?

Yes actually what I had read was about 15%. Was typing this out while on a conference call and meant to put in that number after I said voluntary turn it 😂

many of the things in that article miss the mark and focus on the tool rather than why people make the choice to use a weapon. I wish more would look at those steps the aussies took because that was more impactful!

Lots of theory and conjecture if a utopia land!

Guns increase gamg crime? No more like Single family households, no accountability by parent, school or courts. And not to mention gangster rap is still a thing!

I could go on but the biggest issue is Parents don’t parent, Justice system doesn’t hand out justice and communities no longer….well that take a village to raise a kid. That’s gone forever.

It isn’t the guns. People ate stupid with cars and it never seems to be the car!
