One of my neighbors where I used to live swore by Ackley cartridges, he had a good selection of them.

For "hunting" purposes you can get a long life out of an overbore cartridge if you don't burn a lot of rounds thru the barrel, don't let the barrel cool between shots when sighting in, and/or try to "hot-rod" it with heavy loads.

Several cartridges have gotten a rep for short barrel life when LR shooters have done all of the things I listed.

Besides once you have a good zero all you need is one good when hunting.

A follow up question is where can you find or who makes a good quality nylon brush? I very rarely use cleaning agents on my weapons and prefer to “clean” using oil.
